Six finalists on the way to becoming the 73rd German Wine Queen
The decision fell after a two-hour expert survey in which the candidates from eleven growing areas answered the jury's demanding technical questions. One of three questions had to be answered in English. In addition, it was necessary to discover built-in errors in "wine news". (find jpg of finalists, download 5MB / source: German Wine Institute)
Master Jury evaluated wine knowledge
The candidates' answers were checked on stage by a master jury made up of Nicola Blanchard (Wine MBA, Wine Consultant), Stephanie Hehn (Master Sommelière) and Thomas Curtius (Master of Wine). The 70-member jury with representatives from the wine industry, politics, teaching and research as well as the media assessed the candidates' appearances online from home due to corona restrictions.
The applicants and the decision were loudly supported by 350 enthusiastic spectators, who were able to experience the exciting competition live in the hall (Saalbau) of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse.
