Oslo: Mundus Vini Nordic in full flow

20.06.2023

With the aim of further promoting the positive export development of German wines in Scandinavia, the German Wine Institute (DWI) is currently conducting the Mundus Vini Nordic wine competition in cooperation with Meininger International.

The exhibition was initially held for the first time in 2019.

Scandinavia surpasses US wine export value

With Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland, the Scandinavian wine market is the second most important export market for German wines after the USA. With continued growth, the value of all wine exports to Scandinavia now even exceeds the value of wine exports to the USA. The wine competition is reserved exclusively for German wines, taking into account the peculiarities of the markets.

Almost all of the 50 or so jurors invited to the tasting at Sjømagasinet in Oslo in mid-June came from Scandinavia, in order to tailor the award-winning wines perfectly to the tastes and expectations of the "Nordic palate".

Award ceremony in autumn 2023

The 'Mundus Vini Nordic' award ceremony for the most outstanding German wines in 11 categories takes place in autumn. The competition is an ideal platform for Germany's wine producers who want to export their products to Scandinavia and establish themselves there. The 'Wines of Germany' representatives in the four countries are going to work with the award-winning wines at various events. All winning wines are awarded the MUNDUS VINI medals in silver, gold and big gold, which is certainly a good argument for discussions with existing or potential local dealers.
