Multilingual Hybrid-Event
Due to travel restrictions, some guests from overseas could only be connected via video. On site the individual events were fully Corona-compliant, including a test center that all visitors had to complete before entering. Several Master-classes and evening events were organized by the Ministry of Economics, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture, the VDP-Verband der Prädikatsweingüter, The German Wine Institute (DWI) as well as the Association 'Maxime Ursprung Rheinhessen'.
Masters of Wine (MW) present German wines
The internationally known wine expert and Master of Wine Caro Maurer and the reigning sommelier world champion Marc Almert moderated two extensive wine tastings on the topics of "German Sekt" and "Everything except Riesling", with delicious German grape varieties that are not known abroad yet.
Following the conference, the Mittelrhein, Mosel, Nahe, Pfalz, Rheingau and Rheinhessen regional wine promotions organized information trips to selected wine producers and tourist highlights.
ASI-Präsident: "We felt very welcome"
William Wouters, the Belgian President of ASI, thanked him in retrospect: “The flexibility you all showed was heartwarming. We felt very welcome. We at ASI really appreciate how you handled the situation despite all the COVID restrictions. With attendees from around 30 countries on site and over 30 others connected via Zoom thanks to an impeccable technical team, it has provided us with all the tools we need to have a wonderful general assembly. Our thanks go to The German Wine Institute, the Ministry of Agriculture and Viticulture, the VDP and the Sommelier Union Germany for this unforgettable event. "
